Next Sessions - Tuesday 25th April to Tuesday 23rd May (5 weeks)
This will be the fourth year of the Climbing Club and it is lovely to hear from former members about how it has inspired them to join Hi Rock and work towards their climbing qualifications.
The Climbing Club takes place every Tuesday from 3.30-4.30pm and is for our Year 2 children. The children (up to 8) are collected by Hi Rock staff and taken to Hi Rock which is situated in The Hayling College sports hall. For those who are unaware, money for this wonderful facility was raised by the whole of the Hayling community and it is there for Hayling Islanders to use.
The children learn about safety (how to put on helmets and harnesses correctly), how to listen carefully to instructions and how to work as a team by trained instructors. It is not important if a child does not manage to reach the top of the wall the first time but gradually they gain confidence and usually make it by week 3. Their concentration improves which spills over into their school work. The children have 5 to 6 weekly sessions and then another group will take over and they are chosen on a first come first served basis. Climbing is becoming a very popular after school activity.
