Year 1 have been so busy practising and performing for our Spring performance – Rise and Shine. They have all done so well; learning their lines, the songs, dances and creating their own headdresses and props. We would just like to say a huge thank you to those parents that were able to come in and help the children make their headdresses and props, we couldn’t have done it without you.

If you were able to come and watch one of our performances, we think you will agree with us that they all did an amazing job. The Year R staff commented how lovely it was to see how some of the children’s confidence has grown so much. We have just recorded the performance – look out on the website it will be uploaded before the Easter holidays. We have also taken individual photos of the children which we will put on their Seesaw account.
Unfortunately not many care homes were able to join us for our community performance. We are going to signpost them to the video once it is on our website so that they do not miss out.

In other news –
English this half term has been focused on traditional tales. You might have heard your child retelling the story of The Three Little Pigs or telling you about The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. The children had a very heated ‘Courtroom’ debate about whether they agreed that the wolf should have been put in jail.

In maths we have been focusing on measurement, we have learnt about length, height, weight, mass, volume and capacity. These have been mainly through practical activities – ask your child at home what they have learnt and what they have been measuring.

We hope you all have a lovely Easter break, see you next term.
