We have been incredibly busy in Y1 learning all about Mary Anning, she was a palaeontologist who lived in Lyme Regis. We have been learning about fossils and have created ammonites using chalk. We are going to be making clay ammonites that we will sell at the Christmas Fair. The children have loved learning about dinosaurs and this topic has sparked so many wonderful conversations in class. We are looking forward to our workshop in December when SeaCity Museum bring lots of interesting artefacts for us to touch and look at.

In Maths, we have been adding and subtracting, using part, part whole models and number lines. We have been recording our calculations, ensuring we include all the bits of our number sentence. We have been making sure our numbers are the correct way around and they are written as neatly as possible.

In Art we have been exploring texture and imagining what dinosaur skin would look and feel like. We are a creative bunch and love experimenting with different materials.
