Access information in the event of extreme weather conditions
Mr Anslow, our Site Manager, will endeavour to grit or clear all access routes to the school building before school begins each morning. The following arrangements will be in place if more extreme weather situations mean it is not possible to secure safe access to the building from all routes, prior to the start of the school day.
ICE: The playgrounds and path in from Elm Grove and the paths in from St Marys Road will be gritted as a priority to allow parents and children easy access onto the school site. The path outside the school office and the staff car park will also be gritted and the office will remain open as normal.
SNOW: The paths in from Elm Grove and St Marys Road will be cleared as soon as possible as will the pedestrian access to Year 1 and the path to the school office. Grit will be put down on icy areas to ensure parents and pupils are safe. Where possible the school office will open as normal.
Direct access to some classrooms from the large playground may be restricted depending on the snowfall and if there are restrictions parents will be advised as soon as possible prior to the school opening, via text, Facebook or school website.
SCHOOL CLOSURE: In the event of extreme weather conditions and the decision is taken to close the school, parents are advised to check the school website home page for regular updates. We will also update parents via the text messaging service and our school Facebook page. Hampshire County Council will be informed as soon as the decision is made to close the school, with all parents being informed as soon as possible. A notification will be put on the school website home page and local radio stations will also be informed.
