We have had a very busy start to 2025 in Y1. We have been learning about Yayoi Kusama, who is a Japanese artist who uses dots to create pictures. She creates vibrant art and is most famous for painting pumpkins. The children have been creating their own art in the style of Yayoi and will be soon customising a t-shirt using Yayoi as their inspiration. We are having a Showcase of Y1’s creative work on Thursday 13th February at 11am.
In Maths we have been looking at groups of objects and checking to see if they are equal. We then have tried to work out how many we have altogether. For example below: There are equal groups and each group has 2 in it. There are 8 altogether.
We have also started counting in 2s. Well done to the children who have just received a Numbots certificate.
We have been learning about timbre in music.
We have been looking at pictures of a deserted castle and trying to find sounds to represent the images.
