We have been busy learning lots of new songs ready for our play ‘That Rabbit belongs to Emily Brown’. The children have loved learning the story through our English work and are now bringing it to life ready for you to watch next week.
All the children thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Milestones Museum to kick-start our history topic all about toys. We have been learning about how toys have changed over the last 100 years and how safety features have also been introduced.
We have linked our science learning to toys as well and have been exploring different materials toys are made from and their properties. We have also conducted a simple test to find out if materials are absorbent or waterproof.
In DT we have been planning and creating hand puppets. So far we have experimented with different ways of joining felt together to make finger puppets. We have tried staples, glue and sellotape. We have been discussing which is the easiest, strongest and best to use. Next, we used trial and error to try and find the best size for a hand puppet. We created templates using paper and had to make them a lot bigger than we first thought. We will be making our final product using felt at the end of this week.
We cannot wait to bring out final puppets home to show you all!
